How To Maintain a Healthy Hair: 6 Hair Care Routine
Taking care of our hair is as important as taking care of our health. A daily hair care routine will help you maintain strong and healthy hair. Though a hair care routine is not just about applying different hair care products to the hair, it requires more than that.
The kind of food you eat, as well as your lifestyle, play an important role when it comes to the quality of your hair. So, make sure to consider this in order to get the desired results.
Let’s find out the necessary measures to take in ensuring that our hair remains healthy all the time.
Point 1: Make hair oil your best friend
Irrespective of your hair type, the first thing you need to add to your normal hair care routine should be oil massage. Oil gives hair some certain minerals that will not only strengthen your hair root but also make the hair healthy and thick.
Applying oil to the hair could be time-consuming but a good hair oil massage stimulates blood supply to the hair tresses. You can choose from a lot of options like coconut oil, almond oil, olive oil, etc. to massage your scalp and hair. This will enhance blood circulation and also add the much-needed moisture to your hair. Coconut oil is mostly recommended by hair specialists. Coconut oil can protect your hair from dandruff, sun damage, and accelerate your hair growth.
Massage your hair with any of the oil and then leave it for at least 30 minutes or overnight. Wash with a gentle shampoo. Your hair will become soft and glow instantly.
If you are experiencing hair loss, applying olive oil will be better. You can mix it with other ingredients or hair products.
Point 2: Wash with lukewarm water
The way we use hot water to open pores and close them with cold water, the same notion also applies to our hair. That hot water can rid your hair of essential oils, which can make the hair look dry and dull. Never pour hot water on your hair in order to maintain the natural oil that the hair has.
Lukewarm water is very effective at getting your hair clean. Always use lukewarm water for your first rinse and use cold water for your last rinse. That should be between shampooing and conditioning. This is one of the most effective hair care tips that you should follow.
Point 3: Apply a deep conditioning
To maintaining healthy hair, conditioning is essential. Applying conditioner to your hair will give it moisture and also make it shine. Even though you apply conditioner to your hair after every wash, it will be better to apply deep conditioning.
Once in awhile wash your hair with shampoo and dry it. Then, apply some certain amount of conditioner to the root of your hair. Run the hair with a wide-toothed comb and make sure the conditioner reaches everywhere. After that, pack the hair together and leave the conditioner between 10 to 30 minutes. Then, wash from the top to the bottom very well and enjoy silky smooth hair.
Note: Do not apply conditioner to your scalp.
Point 4: Say no to heat
Excessive heat styling with iron or curler tends to deprive your hair of all the moisture and shine. So it is better to avoid blow-drying, straightening, or curling as much as you can. On occasions where it is important to dry your hair use a heat protecting balm or conditioner to reduce the damage.
Point 5: Avoid rubbing your hair with a towel
Drying your wet hair with a towel can cause hair breakage. Wet hair is prone to breakage so handle them with care to avoid unnecessary hair breakage. The hair can also become frizzy as the towel ruffles up the hair strands. Also, the weight of the towel can pull the hair, causing vulnerable strands to break. Have it in mind that the hair is prone to breakage when wet. So using a common towel to dry the wet strands, can be dangerous to the hair. To avoid this always wrap your hair in a towel and let it absorb some of the moisture. Doing this also avoids the occurrence of split ends.
Point 6: Say goodbye to hairbrush and hello to comb
To avoid hair breakage, instead of using a brush use a wide-toothed comb to detangle your hair. If you do want to use a brush, use a paddle brush but make sure you never use it on wet hair.
